Glee- Christmas Episode

What a sweet episode of Glee- everything from Brittany’s belief in Santa to Artie walking. And of course, always nice 2 see Sue’s kind side!

This scene with Sue playing the Grinch was brilliant!

Glee: “Grilled Cheesus” episode

Finally watched this week’s Glee. Finn is ridiculously funny, Rachel sings Yentl beautifully + I love Glee for tackling such big issues.

One of my favorite music blogger buddies, Harris at Truth About Music, just challenged his Twitter followers to come up with a list of their Top 5 favorite Glee songs from this past season.

Since I’m always up for a music list challenge and am in the mood to get excited about tomorrow night’s finale, I thought I’d give it a go!

Choosing just FIVE songs is tough enough for me, but what I think is even harder in this challenge is choosing the top five SONGS!

I’m not sure if you understand what I mean by this, but what I’m trying to say is that so much of my preferences come from so much more than just the song choice. Instead, my preferences are tied into so many other factors—how the song impacted the plot line, how the song was performed, and specifically what sort of emotion it stirred within me personally.

So here’s my stab at My Top 5 Glee Songs of Season 1. [By the way, here is a full list of all the songs featured in Season 1 for your reference.]

#1: Rose’s Turn: I wasn’t always enamored by Kurt’s voice, but this performance took my breath away and made me realize how incredibly talent Chris Colfer really is. Besides not having heard this song from Gypsy in ages and being totally surprised by its appearance, I was completely moved by this performance and was able to deeply feel the morose and frustration the character was going through.

#2: Like a Prayer: Besides this just being an amazing song, this was the perfect culmination to the perfect episode, the epic Madonna episode. The performance just got you on your feet, clapping with the cast, and wishing that the episode would never end.

#3: Lean On Me: I remember this performance so vividly. The entire Glee club surrounds Quinn and reassures her that they’re there for her no matter what. This performance was just a beautiful example of a time when music expresses a certain emotion better than any single word in the English dictionary could. It also highlights one of the key themes of the show so perfectly—that music has tremendous power. In this case, the power to comfort and protect and love all at the same time.

#4: Don’t Rain on My Parade: Lea Michele just knocks this number out of the house. It is the song that she’s apparently been preparing single childhood and it defines her center-stage character so well. And it just simply makes her sound so good!

#5 Dancing With Myself: There is just something so sweet about this number with Artie dancing in his wheelchair by himself in the auditorium. I love the song and also just love this private moment where we see his character in his most content state, singing and performing in a place he is most happy—on stage.

Just finished watching Glee. Always had a soft spot 4 funk grooves (amazin Parliament song at end), so I loved it. Plot lines were strong 2.

Finally saw last week’s Glee episode. Disappointed by slightly random plot line, but happy 2 hear Dream A Little Dream by Mamas + the Papas

A beauty of an episode. Loved Kurt (@chriscolfer )’s rendition of “A House is Not a Home” + enjoyed seeing Mercedes in the spotlight. #glee

RT @allisonadams815 South Park + Facebook =classic, classic episode. That was really must see TV -> omg, watching now, absolutely hilarious!

These gals appeared on the Jay Leno Show just awhile ago and totally cracked me up. Thankfully my pregnant friends are not that smug, as the song suggests, but this song still touches upon a lot of truths. Well done!
